Detailed Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Copy the Bluesky Post URL

Navigate to any public Bluesky post that contains a video, image, or carousel. You can find content on the Bluesky web app, mobile app, or through shared links.

How to Copy the URL:

🖥️ Desktop Browser:

  • Click on the post to open it
  • Copy the URL from your browser's address bar
  • The URL should look like: https://bsky.app/profile/username/post/...

📱 Mobile App:

  • Tap the three dots (...) on any post
  • Select "Share" or "Copy Link"
  • The URL is now in your clipboard

🔗 Shared Links:

  • If someone shared a link via message or email, copy it directly
  • Works with both bsky.app and at:// protocol URLs

Step 2: Paste the URL into BlueSkySaver

Once you have the URL copied, head to the BlueSkySaver homepage and paste it into the input box.

Tap and hold inside the input box, then select "Paste" from the context menu.

💡 Pro Tip:

BlueSkySaver automatically detects the URL format and validates it. If the URL is invalid, you'll see an error message.

Step 3: Download the Content

After pasting the URL, click the "Download" button. BlueSkySaver will fetch the content from Bluesky and process it for download.

What Happens Next:

Solutions:

  • The Clipboard API requires HTTPS - it works on blueskysaver.com but not on localhost
  • Grant clipboard permissions in your browser if prompted
  • Alternative: Use Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on Mac) to paste manually
Video won't play after downloading?

Solutions:

  • Try a different media player (we recommend VLC)
  • Ensure the download completed successfully (check file size)
  • Update your device's video codecs
Getting an error message?

Common errors and solutions:

  • "Invalid URL": Make sure you copied the full Bluesky post URL
  • "Post not found": The post may have been deleted or is private
  • "No media found": The post doesn't contain downloadable videos or images
  • "Network error": Check your internet connection and try again
Can I download private posts?

No. BlueSkySaver only works with publicly accessible posts. We don't ask for your Bluesky credentials and can't access private accounts or protected posts.
